What is a Postpartum Doula?

It takes a village! Family, friends and partners can be a wonderful support during for your growing family, but they are not the only option for postpartum care. The primary role of the postpartum doula is to ensure that parents have what they need so that they can focus on caring for their infant.

Postpartum doulas teach partners, siblings (pets!) and extended family members how to support the new parents and give baby-care tips. Specific duties are tailored to fit the unique needs of each family. We step in where we are needed - doing light housekeeping, assisting in care of mom and baby, providing developmental support.

Postpartum doulas can work a few hours, part time or full days and typically provide support for the first months of a baby’s life. This support is particularly helpful if you are a business owner or in need of nonjudgmental, reliable support.

Asking for help.

This can be hard at first but can ensure that you are well cared for and able to be present and truly enjoy getting to know your new baby.
